Background

This project focused on introducing physical computing as a way to create prototypes within Interaction Design.

Brief

Design a ritual intervention. We are now more connected than ever with rapid technological progress. Based on self-reflection, first-hand observations, interviews, and reading, you should design a technology-based intervention around the concept of ritual.

Concept

When people go on vacation there is a ritual to take something home.
This can be in the form of a magnet, a wallet or jewelery. In Ireland, the
clover is one of the most important symbols and is believed to bring good luck.

As we explored rituals, one of the most common was "touching wood"
to avoid bad luck or luck. We've created an Irish souvenir machine that
will bring you luck in three ways.

You can knock on the wood for good luck, and by blowing the fan to
get your souvenir, you wish good luck and if you have your necklace
you can use it as your good luck charm anytime.

We designed Three Times a Charm to be in the atmosphere of a
place that acts as a magnet for tourism, such as Temple Bar.

  • One of the symbols of Ireland is a shamrock.
  • Ireland has many tourists who buy souvenirs.

Goals

  • Create a working prototype.
